Can Mo and Luther, with a little help from Alice the ghost, discover the killer and keep the Black Horse Inn and the town of Hampton on the up and up, or will the killer bring the town’s new-found resurgence in popularity to an end?

This was a really fun, slightly paranormal mystery. Alex and Mo have bought the Black Horse Inn and the richest woman in Hampton VT turns up dead at dinner. Since Mo is a former police officer, she's asked to step in and help with the investigation.
Even though this is a short book, I thought it was really well written and thought out. The mystery is relatively simple but I didn't guess whodunnit until the author started slipping clues. I loved how Mo assembled all the suspects in one room kind of like in an old murder mystery book or TV show.
The regular characters were likable and I think favorite has to be Mad Polly. She might be a little bit off but she's just quirky enough to be good fit for this town, which incidentally doesn't show up on GPS. Mo's husband doesn't believe the inn has its own ghost, Alice, who gives Mo clues about things she needs to do or think about. I think it would be fun if he actually ever got to see her or something she caused to happen. I love a ghost that isn't scary!
I'm sure I'll eventually be reading the rest of the series but probably won't binge-read it. I tried that with another series and I got a little tired of it. I'm glad I borrowed this on Unlimited and decided to finally give it a read! This is the perfect length story for when you want to read but don't want to get invested in something more complicated.
Great little read to fill in waiting time, less than an hour, it moved quickly. I hope it's the start of a long series
Really great start in this series. The characters were fun to get to know. Mo is cool but I think Alice and Polly were my favorite characters.
One of the best cozies I have read in a while. It is a good story that is well written and edited. The main characters are immediately likeable, believable and memorable and their back story is woven into the book nicely.

Another story series that's going to be a great read. Her writing style is engrossing and entertaining. I look forward to anything new from her.
